When you are in your teens, the word “nutrition”, probably, does not seem to be very important to you as all that you want to do is to freak out and eat any type of junk food that comes your way. You might consider all this fashionable. Health and weight problems just don’t seem to matter to you and you couldn’t care less about the ill-effects of eating unhealthy food. The lack of nutrition in your food is adequately made up by your youthful energy but age is bound to catch up with you and before long, you’ll start feeling the pinch of the deficiencies of the required nutrients.

It’s, therefore, better for you as a teenager to start developing good eating habits so that you get proper nutrition and can remain healthy and without any ailments. You would also be setting a good example to the other members of your family, particularly your juniors by doing so.

Calorie Requirements
Ideally, the food taken by a teenager should provide about 1,900 to 2,300 calories in a day, whereas in the case of an adult this figure stands between 1,600 and 2,000. The calorie requirement also depends upon the level of activity that you indulge in. On most active days, the ideal diet would be about ten servings of rice, cereal, bread or pasta every day. However, it is recommended that you take small portions of food.

Taste Vs Nutrition
The paradox of life is that tasty food is not necessarily full of nutrition. Teenagers are naturally attracted towards convenient and tasty food without realizing the low nutritious value of the same. It’s therefore essential to control your desire to consume such foods and cultivate the habit of eating those foods that provide adequate amount of nutrition. It won’t be very difficult to switch over to good healthy food. Ultimately, you are the best judge for deciding what you should do to lead a healthy life.

Before being able to decide the type and quantity of food that you should consume, it’s necessary that you know the nutritional qualities of different types of food. The amount of nutrition that you can get from salad is much higher than what you can obtain from French fries and as such you should order a salad with your burger instead of opting for French fries. Consuming water is a better option than taking soda. It’s also necessary to include all types of food in your diet so that you consume all the ingredients of a balanced diet.


A Few Health And Nutrition Tips
To ensure that the nutrition in your food gets properly assimilated in your body and is utilized adequately you must incorporate a regular exercise regimen into your daily routine. Proper physical activity is essential for metabolism of your food and for improving your weight. It is also essential that you include plenty of fruits, vegetables and grain products which have low amounts of saturated fats and cholesterol heightening foods, in your diet. Your diet should also have moderate amounts of sugar, salt and sodium.
