These eight types play a very vital role in healthy functioning of all cells in the human body. There are around 200 types of sugar found in nature. Of these, Glucose and Galactose form a common part of American diets (main sources are table sugar and dairy products). Consumption of the rest of the sugar types is comparatively rarer due to the lack of consumption of fresh vegetables and fruit. Depleted soils and early agricultural harvesting is also to blame. These processes restrict Glyconutrients in our food.
